My Journey With Weight Loss – Doing Some Biking

We have had an interesting time at our condo in Playa del Carmen. While it has been 2 years since we have been here we did rent the condo out twice during that time. I have no idea which renter it was but some of our stuff is missing and I mean strange things. The sheets in our main bedroom were changed out to ones that were a different colour, things like bath sheets are no longer here, our electric griddle no longer has a drip tray and we also found out my rolling pin and mat are missing. I just hope the which ever renter took our stuff really need all of it for their new place.

This morning I did my usual 5k. Yes, it is still challenging but I am getting through it and quite frankly I am proud of how many workouts I have done while on vacation. For some reason my husband decided we also needed to do some biking today. Great for him but after my 5k and then 30 minutes of strength training I thought another 45 minutes of biking would be overkill but what the hell, I was game to try it.

Back in the summer of 2020 I tried some biking when I was suffering from a repetitive stress injury. My chiropractor thought it would be better to give my leg a rest and try some non-weight bearing exercise. Well I tried it at that time and I found it pretty tough. I was only doing about 20 minutes at a time because that was all my quads could handle, oh have things changed.

Out we went today and within a few minutes my husband was shouting out to me that this was a leisurely ride, not a race. I apologized because I didn’t think I was riding that fast. We did a good 45 minutes before stopping for lunch and then a 15 minute ride back home. What was so amazing to me was how easy this was. Admittedly we were on some pretty flat terrain but still I felt really comfortable doing this. As a matter of fact I really didn’t get into cardio zone on this ride which surprised me.

I’ve decided when the weather starts getting better at home I am going to continue doing some biking just to mix things up a bit. The only problem I had with today is that we needed to raise the seat on my bike. Unfortunately my bad knee doesn’t bend as much as it should and I just need a little extra room to feel comfortable riding a bike. We are going to go back at it tomorrow to see if the new set up now works for me.
