My Journey With Weight Loss – Training In Mexico
As I mentioned my posts may be a bit sporadic while I am here at my condo in Mexico but I thought I could get one out today. We traveled to Playa del Carmen on Friday which meant there was no running that day. Then Saturday I just couldn’t get myself out of bed to get moving. No big deal, I thought, I’ll be good to go tomorrow. Wrong! While out shopping on Saturday my sandals weren’t tight enough which resulted in a blister. No problem said my husband as we have a 1st Aid kit at the condo. So I got up yesterday morning fully prepared to go for a run but the said 1st Aid kit was nowhere to be found. Now some might think this is a pitiful excuse not to train but no way would I risk doing more harm to my foot (remember, I am still considered diabetic so I need to protect my feet). Bottom line is another day not running.
Of course when out shopping yesterday we picked up a pack of bandages. Up I got at 6am this morning and I checked the temperature, 25 degrees but feels like 28 degrees. Oh crap, I knew it was going to be hot. But, I came prepared. I brought a sweatband with me and I had frozen the 2 water bottles that go with my running belt. I got all kitted up, including sunglasses and off I went.
I did get a chance to see many people out early this morning but only 2 others running. I can understand why because it was hot! As this was my first run while here I did a full hour. It wasn’t long into the run and I was drenched in sweat. Still I was determined to keep going. I don’t normally drink water while I run but I know I need to keep myself well hydrated in this kind of heat so by time I was done I had drank about 2/3 of my water and I finished the rest as soon as the run was over.
Tomorrow I get a bit of a break as I won’t be running but I am planning on a good bike ride. Wednesday I will be pushing it up a notch by doing 1 1/2 hour run. I am determined to get in 6 days of workouts each week while I am here so that I can still meet my training goals.
