My Journey With Health And Fitness – Here Comes The Rain

March 4, 2026

Ok, I have some great news to report, the new kittie is now letting me pet him and give him scitchies! It has been a long 3 weeks since we traumatized him but in the past 10 days he has really come out of his shell. He was actually laying on our bed today doing some playing with our young Ragdoll. Pretty sure soon he’ll be sleeping on our bed.

After dealing with cold weather for the past few weeks, we are now on to rain. After fitness class this morning I went out to do my 8 km run knowing it might start raining. Now I must say, at fitness class we did a lot of leg work so the first couple km’s this morning were a bit tough. However, once I got past them the run went well. But I digress. The run wasn’t too bad and while it rained a bit it wasn’t anything that got me really wet. I truly appreciate that because I hate having to run when I am wet and cold. And so it was a pretty good 8km ths morning.

But then it was time to head off to my caregivers’ support group. I checked my weather app and there was no way I was doing this without getting wet. I loaded up with my water proof jacket and put on a ball cap because that seems to help the bill of the rain jacket keep my face reasonale dry. I arrived at the center where the group meets and thought, hey, that wasn’t bad.

Then it was time to walk home. I decided to really push myself at a good clip and the walk was pretty good. As a matter of fact I shaved 6 minutes off my walk to the center. But to be honest the reason I walked so fast was to try and get out of the rain. By time I got home my leggings, shirt, gloves and shoes were all soaking wet. I was so cold I changed into my flannel jammies and fleece robe which did make me feel better but reminded me how much I despise walking in the rain.

But hey, this is the westcoast and rain is just something we have to deal with. The important thing is that I didn’t let that stop me from doing an additional 10km of walking. I once again hit my 20km goal for the day and that is what it is all about.

So here comes the rain for the next several days. I will stll meet all of my goals and if it means having to change out of and dry my clothes then so be it, I am so pumped at my accomplishments over the past few weeks that I won’t let anything stop me.
